This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Unraku Studios (“Unraku”) collects, uses, maintains and discloses personal information that we collect from the users (each, a “User”) of  our websites, including (but not limited to)

Our goal of our Privacy Policy is to explain:

    3. The choices we offer, including how to access and update information.

This privacy policy applies to all the sites we own and maintain as well as all products and services that we offer unless clearly and explicitly stated otherwise.

About Us

Unraku Studios currently operates as an unincoporated not-for-profit collective in the Canadian Province of Ontario. Our policies are drafted to be in compliance with relevant Canadian privacy legislation, the full details of which can be read online here. Although we do not currently operate in the European Union, for the sake of best practices we actively seek to remain in compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation as well as the privacy laws of various other jurisdictions.

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when a user visits our site(s), when they register on our site(s), place an order, subscribe to our newsletter(s), respond to a survey, fill out a form. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and/or credit card or other payment information. Users may, however, visit and use our our sites anonymously. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain activities on the site that require it.

Non-personal identification information

We may collect anonymized non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our site. This non-personal identification information may include the name of the user’s web browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.

Web browser cookies

Our Site uses “cookies” to enhance User experience. “Cookies” are very small text files that are stored on your computer when you visit some websites. We use cookies to help identify your computer so we can tailor your user experience, track the contents of your shopping cart and remember where you are in the order process.

You can disable any cookies already stored on your computer, but these may stop our web sites from functioning properly.

Third party advertising

Due to concerns about privacy and tracking by third party advertising companies like Google and Facebook, we do not embed ads by third parties on any of our web sites at this time.

How we use collected information

Information you voluntarily provide in any surveys or feedback polls that we conduct helps us respond to your requests and support needs more efficiently.

We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users use the services and resources provided on our Site.

We use the information Users provide about themselves when placing an order only to provide service to that order. We do not share this information with anyone, except to the extent necessary to provide the service and remain in compliance with applicable law.

If you decide to opt-in to our mailing list, you will receive emails that may include news, updates, product or service information, etc. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email. If you shop on our sites, we may use the email address you provide us with to send you information and updates pertaining to their order. It may also be used to respond to your questions, and/or other requests.

How we protect your information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site. Sensitive and private data exchange between you and us happens over a SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures.

Sharing your personal information and third parties

Unraku does not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. Ever. Period.

However, we do use certain trusted third party service providers to help us operate our web site(s) and administer activities on our behalf. Generally speaking, these third-party providers only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us. However, each of these companies have their own privacy policies regarding both the information you submit to them voluntarily and the information they record while using our web site. We strongly recommend that you read the privacy policies of these third party providers so that you can understand how your personal information will be handled by them.

Certain events that we host throughout the year are managed using services and tools provided by Eventbrite, Inc., an international ticketing and registration platform based in the United States. Data you submit to us using Eventbrite forms on both our web sites and external web sites that we may we link to is processed and stored by Eventbrite in compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. Our mailing lists are currently served by MailChimp, an email address management and message sending service provided by Mailchimp Inc. Any personal data that you submit when subscribing to any of our mailing lists is processed and stored by Mailchimp in the United States of America in compliance with their privacy policy, which is available online at

Some of the ecommerce transactions on our web site(s) are processed and/or hosted by Shopify Inc., a Canadian ecommerce platform. Some of your data maybe stored in Shopify’s data storage, databases and the general Shopify application on a secure server behind a firewall. If you make a purchase on our web site(s), Shopify may store your credit card data, which will be encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) established by the PCI Security Standards Council. Your purchase transaction data is stored by Shopify only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After your purchase transaction is complete, this data will be deleted by Shopify. Please remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us. So if you elect to submit information to us via the services of one of these a third-party service providers, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider and/or its facilities are located.

Changes to this privacy policy

Unraku has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the top of this page. If you are a registered user of our web site(s), we will also send you an email if we update this policy and/or make any change that affects how you or our partners treat your information. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect.

Your acceptance of these terms

When you use our sites, you’re signifying your acceptance of this policy. Your continued use of the Site after we post notification of any changes to this policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.
